* TO DO LIST: Start a to do list. This is very easy and you do not need any fancy program. If you are on a PC start a little program called ??? and if you are on a MAC, the program in called text edit.  These are the basic word processor programs all windows or mac computers come with.  Once the program is started, set out your goals. Since this is a to do list, I like to make these little tiny goals that can be accomplished in a fairly short period of time.  I like to do this exercise the night before, this way when I go to bed, tomorrows goals are in my thoughts and the subconscious can work on them while I sleep.  It really does work. Now when you get up, you have your list of things to complete, print it out and get to work.

    * TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF: I am still developing this, but what I do in the morning is to make sure I take care of myself. I take Maxwell (the dog) out for a good long walk to give us both some exercise. I eat a healthy breakfast. Brush my teeth and then I am ready to work. I find if I do not do this, then I get distracted very easily thinking about (walking the dog, eating something, my bad breath, etc…). Therefore getting this out of the way ahead of time, reduces the chance for distractions.

    * E-MAIL: Here is a big one…. How many of you leave your e-mail program running in the background?  I used to, and every time I would here the audible signal that a new e-mail has arrived, I would rush over and check it out. STOP THIS.  It is wasting your time.  Today, I check my e-mail, at most, 3 times a day. And one day a week, I make a longer period of time to take care of the messages that need more attention. When you are not dealing with your e-mail, quit the program, DO NOT LET IT RUN IN THE BACKGROUND! If you are worried about your co-workers not being able to get a hold of them, put an auto responder on your e-mail that bounces a note back informing them of your new system and that you will get back them at a designated time. No more excuses.

    * TIME MANAGEMENT:  All of us are different as to how much time we can spend each day on out Home Based business. Some it may only be an hour, some it may be 16 hours. So we need to make each one of these hours as progressive as possible. I suggest you get a kitchen timer of some sort. It is simple and inexpensive. Set it for 50 minutes, close the door, turn off the phone, turn off the e-mail (unless this is your project for the hour), essentially get rid of all possible distractions. This includes the children and pets too! Go to work for the 50 minutes and concentrate. When the 50 minutes is up, reset the timer for 10 minutes and get up. stretch, play with the kids, kiss the significant other, pet the dog, visit the bathroom, whatever…  RINSE…REPEAT…

Well you are not alone, according to a recent Harris Poll, 72% of American households are thinking about starting a home based business. 

These days, there are a lot of empty promises out there with a “get rich quick” theme. I am here to tell you, unless it is against the law, or you win the lottery, getting rich is not an overnight happening. Even the success stories like you saw on the video to get you to join your network marketing company took time to get there.

I was recently at a national convention in Oklahoma for my MLM company and saw many million dollar earners go accross the stage. They all said their name and when they had started. Not one of them had been with the company for less than 7 years. This frightened me!

I spoke with a few of these people, and they all say it takes time and hard work to get there.

What I did realize is none of them had harnessed the power of the internet to get there! 

Ok this is your big break, today you have the internet. And, if harnessed properly can be the leverage we need to build our business much more quickly and effeciently.

• You win by being liked. Your goal here is to be liked by everyone, and you will do just about anything to reach that goal. Place this person in a leadership role and the business is likely to fail, because tough decisions cannot be made, since it may mean they will not be liked.

• You win by being right. This is the expert in a specific field. Criticism is not accepted and their mind is closed to new and fresh ideas. Being wrong is not acceptable, to the point of sabotage if necessary.

• You win by winning. This is the achiever! Their motivation is to win. Competitiveness and gaining the leading edge push this person. This person does not care if others do not like them. Discomfort provides them with new opportunities to succeed and win. Robert Kiyosaki is a perfect example of this kind of person.

• You win by losing. This person is always the victom. ALways with the feeling of PMS (Poor Me Syndrome). Statements like “I knew it wouldn’t work” are common for this person. Therfore gaining a win when they stopped trying and it did not work.

After reading this I looked in the mirror to find a little of each of these characters in myself.  I know I  made a concious decision that day to be 95% winner and 5% the rest on those really bad days we all have.  

If you set your expectations so high that you can not achieve them, you will spend the rest of your life dissappointed and bummed out. Set realistic expectations!

The greatness of all this is once we have a win, the process starts all over again. So right now, it is time to set a small goal that is achievable and set out to win by achieving that goal no matter what it takes.

Now, go out there and be a winning winner for yourself and those around you. Only you can make your dreams come true!

Todays post is about activity.

In order to have a successful Network Marketing or MLM business, there are things that we must do. And we must do them consistently. These things, make up activity.

Think about it… Activity…

• Built the house/condo/apartment you are living in right now
• Built the highways and roads across America
• Got Man to the Moon
• Created the internet

These are great achievements!

But Activity can also:

• Cause that House/Condo/or Apartment to come falling down one termite at time
• Cause our Highway system to fall apart one pothole at a time
• Cause a satellite to fail so we have to shoot it out of the sky
• Cause a server to fail.

The moral is, keep active, and keep your activity in building and being productive, not in tearing apart.

By combing activity with goals, a true direction for your activity can be derived.

There are two ingredients to activity. The first is ACTION

Do you want to earn more money this year than you did last year?

• Do you want to build your prospect list?
• Do you want to become a better salesperson and close more deals?
• Do you want a Massive Sales Organization?

Well all of these take Action and….

The second characteristic of activity… WORK.

ACTION + WORK = ACTIVITY

There are 10 basic characteristics of a person who takes Positive Action and combines it with work to be positively active.

#1 You must be Persistent

Calvin Coolidge once said ” Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence”

#2 You must have and emit Confidence

This does not mean arrogance. You must be confident in your product and yourself.

According to a respected journalist, Richard Poe, in his book Wave4 – Network Marketing in the 21st Century, Network Marketing is responsible for moving over a whopping **$100 billion** of goods and services yearly on the global front. It is therefore very likely that you have already come in contact with some type of Network Marketing product or service. The concept of moving goods through an army of independent distributors has earned its place in the marketing world despite the negative publicity suffered by the industry. Network Marketing is here to stay; the question that remains is, “How do I choose a company?”

Here are some very important pointers that would guide you in the right direction. Any company that you can find passing these criteria will be a great company to line up with.

1. A company that has been in business for at least 5 years and has great financial backing, excellent management and a ‘distributor first’ philosophy. The company should also have a long-term development goal and not just be out for the quick cash. A good example of this kind of company would be Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc

This may be a pretty tall order to reach but considering that the great majority of start-up Network Marketing companies fail within their first three years you don’t want your income stream to suddenly dry up! It’s no picnic to discover that after you’ve spent time, effort and money to build a solid organization the company closes down because one of those essential elements was missing.

There is the prevalent myth that the best time to join a company is at start-up—the so called ‘ground floor opportunity’—, but if the truth be told, the ground often caves in leaving many people very unhappy. This does not mean that you should wait for five years to see if a company would do well, because logically, this would mean that no Network Marketing company will ever get started. The point here is that you should assess your risk and know that the chance of losing your money is higher with a new company than with a company having a proven track record.

You know the saying that the proof of the pudding is in the eating; just so the proof of the stability of a Network Marketing company is in the duration of survival. In fact, in over 60 years of Network Marketing history and after tens of thousands of Network Marketing start up companies, only around 42 companies have made it to their 5th birthday.

Any business owner would admit that the first years are the toughest. This is the period when the company is just establishing a footing and income is most likely low. If the company does not have the proper financial backing it is not likely to survive these years. You would not want to join a company that is depending too much on the distributors for survival. A Network Marketing company takes time to build momentum by the very nature of the business - word of mouth advertising, people telling people. Before it reaches top momentum it must have the financial backing to survive the early hurdles.

Customer support for the distributors is also a critical part of the company. If their distributors feel neglected then they will simply not stick around. Especially in today’s market where there are thousands of Network Marketing companies beckoning. The distributors are the consumers and salespeople, and to neglect them is to commit certain suicide.

A sad reality of the Network Marketing industry is that there are many scam artists that come along just for the quick cash just before they close shop and disappear. This would require that you do your due diligence such as checking consumer alert websites as FTC.gov and WorldWideScam.com among others. These scam artists will normally emphasize the compensation plan over the actual product—if there really is a product—and apply high pressure sales tactics to persuade you to join the “ground-floor opportunity”. These criminals prey on human greed and have little sympathy for the naïve.

2. High quality (unique if possible), reasonably priced products or services that should be, ideally, consumable so users will have to buy over and over again. Some good choices here are Success University, YTB Travel and Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.

What is great about these companies is the each have a products that are not physical, therefore you do not have to store any inventory. They each have products desired or needed by most humans.

• Success University has continued education, anyone wanting to get ahead in life needs this. Isn’t this why you are reading this article?
• YTB Travel brings the benefits of being a travel agent to you, and at the same time allows you some awesome deductions and benefits of owning your own business.
• And Pre-Paid Legal Services offers a product no person or family should be without in today’s sue happy and unfair world.

Traditionally, Network Marketing companies are able to produce higher quality products simply because they don’t have to pay outrageous prices for advertisement. Just think about the millions of dollar paid per year by companies such as Nike to sports stars for a 30 second commercial. This money, if Nike followed the Network Marketing model, could go into developing better quality products and paying their workers better salaries. Because a large part of a normal company’s budget goes towards advertising, Network Marketing companies will deliver a higher quality product, all things being equal, per dollar spent.

Also remember that you want to be paid continually so you need a product or service that is consumable so the customer has to keep refilling his supply. Nutritional and telecommunication companies fit this requirement very well.

Apart from being consumable, another important factor is how ‘needed’ this product or service is. The negative side of pushing nutritional products is that most people are only concerned about their health after it is already failing! (You’ll do well recruiting at the local hospital). If you are marketing a service such as web hosting, medical coverage or legal services you are more likely to have less attrition in your down line.

If the company is selling a product that you can pick up at your local department store, then you’re not likely to do very well. A unique or proprietary product will do better since you’ll have less competition—you learn very early that there is no such thing as zero competition although some companies will want to make this claim.

The “acid test” question to apply to the price of the product or service is, “Would I purchase at this price if there wasn’t a compensation plan attached to it?” If your answer is “No,” then you are looking at a potential pyramid scheme where a product is just attached to the compensation plan to make the opportunity appear legitimate. In these cases you will always find that the compensation plan becomes the selling point and the product or service rarely mentioned.

3. A Compensation Plan that is fair to both fulltime and part-time distributors alike with leadership bonuses for those who build large and productive teams.

We have already mentioned that a successful Network Marketing company will have a “distributor first” philosophy. In no other place should this be exhibited more than in the compensation plan. It takes only some simple arithmetic to see how many sales or distributors you need in your organization in order to be in profit. Most people don’t take the time to do the math and sometimes are “deceived” by the fancy potential income charts that are put out by the company.

The point here is that you need to read between the lines and the fine print to be sure what you are paid for your effort. Most people will skim this section because it may read like a tax code and who likes to do their taxes? That’s why we hire accountants.

Compensation plans fall into basically four types:

(a) The Break Away Plan. This is the oldest and most traditional plan and allows distributors to build and be paid on an unlimited number of frontline associates. When the frontline associates reach a certain predetermined volume they can “break away” from their up line and form their own organization. In this break away plan the leaders are paid on all their frontline and also certain levels down in their break away groups. In this model if you don’t work you don’t eat. You have to recruit in order to be compensated.

(b) The Unilevel Plan. Here you are only paid on a certain number of levels determined by the company. In this case there are no ‘break away’ groups. The larger your frontline the larger will be your total group size. The lower levels would therefore be much larger than the upper ones. Again if you don’t recruit you don’t get a check.

(c) The Matrix Plan. In this plan you are limited to the number of recruits you could have on your frontline. So in a 3 X 5 matrix you’ll have 3 on your front line then 9 on the second level, then 27 on the next and so on. Compared to the two other plans we’ve looked at the matrix plan limits your success to a certain level. What’s so appealing about this plan though is that recruits are told they only need to get 3 and are even promised “spill-over” from a “heavy hitter” in their up line. The results are that everyone joins looking for spillover and never makes any personal effort. Results? Certain failure. A matrix, though limited, can work but the distributors must depend on their personal efforts and allow the spillover (if any) to be just an added bonus. One prime example is SOLOBIS.

(d) The Binary Plan. This plan is a special case of the matrix where you can only have two on your frontline, hence ‘binary’. The only caveat here is that many such plans require you to balance both sides of your organization before you can get paid. This is really a trick so that the company can keep your money as long as possible and sometimes forever. Some dishonest companies will start off by opening only one side of the binary—called a ‘power leg’—as there is no possibility of you getting paid until the other side is opened. By the time the other side is opened many people may have left the company leaving their commission checks behind as well. You are forever left, not only with recruiting, but trying to balance the sides of your team. Beware of such plans!

There are variations of these plans that have come along such as the straight-line plan where you are paid on every one that comes in after you.
Companies that follow these plans don’t seem to survive very long since most people just join and stand by waiting on their checks. There is no real incentive to work the plan.

Warning: You should always be particularly suspicious of compensation plans that pay out over 60%. This normally means that the product is overpriced, qualification quotas or volumes are almost unreachable or the breakaway structure can rob you of your investment and hard work. If the company uses the breakaway plan you may find your down line disappearing just as you are about to hit the big numbers. If a company intends to be deceptive it will be in the compensation plan; so study it well!

4. Training and solid up line support for your team.

Many companies provide training and promotional materials for their distributors but it is often difficult to strike a balance between product promotion and distributor training. And distributor training normally takes a backseat. You should be wary of companies that charge exorbitant prices for their promotional materials. You are investing your advertising dollars so the company should not seek to make a profit from you here—although many do.

You should seek to align yourself with an experienced leader and learn as much as possible from his or her recruiting methods. Be sure to investigate your up line because that can be the one factor that determines success or failure for you. Study the company literature to see who the ‘big hitters’ are and join their group. It is said that misery loves company; so does success. Aligning yourself with David Budlong accomplishes this as he is an integral part of successful teams with motivated upline support, and extensive free training on taking your Network Marketing Business to new levels with the use of the internet.

5. A wide and even global market if possible.

You may find a company with all the great characteristics that we have looked at so far and then discover that it is not available in your area—ouch! With the advent of the Internet you find that many more companies are going global. This means that your market reach will be wider and chances of building a solid team greatly improved.

Apart from the sheer geography of the company’s market reach, is the potential customer base as well. For example, many American nutritional companies are aiming for the ‘baby boomers’ who are now in their midlife years and make up a good percentage of the buying public—in means and numbers. This demographic of customers want to look younger and are very health conscious. Any product that caters to their needs will most likely have a ready market.

Another big “bubble” when looking at population demographics is the children of the baby boomers. Look at what they are spending money on!

Choosing a company that has a product or service for which there is no ready market will make it very difficult on the distributor. And in this industry one needs a lot of encouragement.

and are improving our work habits as we go along. It’s
time we started to schedule and plan our 90 to 120
minutes a day we are going to spend on Internet Based
Network Marketing.

There is a simple formula you can use to ensure you are
accountable and productive every single day. Remember

Here is what you need to do:

Put together a PPC Campaign

1. 20 minutes per day writing an article
2. 30 minutes a day doing Press Releases
3. 20 minutes a day participating in a targeted forum (our forum)
4. 20 minutes per day surfing Traffic Swarm building credits
5. 20 minutes posting to your favorite blog
6. Once a week test a different ad in a different Ezine

This basic layout and format is incredibly powerful. Spending 90
minutes a day posting on forums, writing and submitting articles
and press releases and surfing Traffic Swarm will start to drive
some serious traffic to your site.

Plus building and setting up your PPC campaign and Ezine
advertising, which are hands off when done, will fill your
pipeline with prospects.

Sound like too much to do in one day? Then break it down
and concentrate on one item per day of the week. Regardless
get your website out there.

No we have a place to send our traffic and squeeze their name and e-mail
out of them, and we have not sold them a thing yet, only shown them that
we know what we are talking about and started to build a relationship with them.

Ok, now we need to nurture this relationship and build the trust level with your list.
But here is the problem. Imagine having to sit down every day and writing
an e-mail to all the new members to your list.

Time consuming and monotonous.

This is the beauty of Auto-Responders. Once the letter is written, it can
be personalized and used over and over again, day in, day out and all on
autopilot while you are taking a nap on the couch.

therefore protecting you (and them) from spam laws

Today’s is about how to get traffic to your site.

Success for Internet Based Network Marketing
comes down to two very simple concepts;

• Traffic and
• Conversion

There are essentially two ways to get traffic. You either
Buy it…or you create it.

If you don’t have a lot of time, then you will need
to buy your traffic, if you are on a budget, then creating
it will be your best option.

There is no way I can cover all of the methods here. I
can however introduce you to several ways which you
you can further investigate on your own.

Here is a partial list of the different kinds of traffic
generation methods.

I imagine some of these seem very foreign to you. Today
we are going to discuss two extremely quick ways to build
traffic; Pay Per Click and Traffic Exchanges.

PPC –

PPC advertising/marketing is one of the most popular and
effective ways to advertise, market, and drive traffic that
has ever existed. It really is ingenious.

It is so powerful, that within 5 minutes you can have an
entire marketing campaign up and running with billions
of people at your fingertips for about $5.00.

Not only that, but you ONLY pay when someone clicks on
your ad and shows an interest in what you are offering.

There are three major companies that offer PPC advertising;

• · Google
• · MSN
• · Yahoo

There are others out there, but these are the major players.
I would also suggest you master Google prior to moving on
to the others.

It is very possible that when you signed up with your hosting
company, they gave you a voucher for $50 or $30 to use with
Google and Yahoo. Use this to get a feel for it. After that
I must stress here that you take a class or read a book prior
to starting your PPC campaign.

WARNING: PPC advertising can be very expensive and time
consuming to do it right.

But, once you have Google mastered, it can be your best road
to success.

Traffic Exchanges –

Traffic exchanges are networks of people who basically exchange
traffic. It works on the principle that you sign up for a traffic exchange,
and then in the exchange you click on other people’s website links to
build credits. Those credits are equal to other principle clicking on your
site as well. In this sense you are exchanging traffic with all the other
people on that exchange.

There is an art to using traffic exchanges. The main key is to not promote
your product or opportunity. But to direct your traffic to your
squeeze page which is offering valuable information in exchange for
their name and e-mail address.

Once they have opted-in to your e-mail list, then you can start your
marketing campaign.

The traffic exchange system I use is called traffic swarm and can be

There are two levels to Traffic Swarm, Free and Paid. I would suggest
the paid level right away. This gets you more traffic per month and
when you set it up properly, you will get more credits per you click too.

Generating traffic is the lifeblood of your system. Without the traffic,
your squeeze pages will not work, your list will not grow, and your system
will just stop working.

Here is a quick look at what we have gone over before. We took off the Salesman hat and put on the leader cap. We went to a domain registrar such as www.1and1.com or www.godaddy.com and found a domain name. If you haven’t done this yet, now is the time.

We learned how to try and work smarter. This is a big step, and I know for me I am still working on it. I work on it every day. But if you want to succeed, then learning how to better manage your time and working smarter is a necessity.

Ok, review completed, one project to be done before continuing and one to continue and refine each day.

Today’s topic, building a website can’t be completed unless you have a domain name to direct traffic to it. A domain name is a more civilized way for people to find your site. You could actually have a web site without a domain name, but the address people would have to type in would be a series of meaningless numbers. For example, the real web (IP, Internet Protocol) address for my Internet Based Network Marketing site was 74.54.176.226. Not an easy number to remember, nor is it descriptive. Think about those commercials you here on TV, Just call “(888) 555-1212” for your free thing-a-ma-gig. And then they repeat the phone number multiple times so you don’t forget it. That lasts about 1 second in my memory banks. Domain names are not only making your site easy to remember and find for people, but also for the search engines. More on this later.

Ok, you have a domain name. Did you order hosting service at the same time? If you did great, if not it is time to find a hosting service. Hosting services vary in price, making it a very competitive market. This is good for us, because it brings the price down. I personally keep my domain names with one company and my hosting services with another company. For now, you do not need to go out and spend a lot of money on a hosting service. I would not spend more than $10 a month on this. One other thing to consider when finding a good hosting service is the tech support. Make sure they have tech support available most of the time. I personally have hosting on www.hostgator.com, I have found their prices reasonable, their download speed acceptable, and their tech support excellent. Just enter “Low Cost Hosting Services” in a Google search and you will be amazed how many there are out there.

You may be asking yourself now, why do I need a web site when the company I represent has created a great landing page for me that I can just send my traffic to. Well that is true; however that page is a replicated page with the same information on it as all of the associates. It is absolutely worthless in branding you as a leader. Think about it, if your website is the same as everyone else’s, then why should your prospect join you? What sets you apart from the others?

Furthermore, these company generated websites are not capture pages, they DO NOT generate leads. Remember, the most important thing to grow and expand your business is to constantly be generating new leads.

Now if you have an interested prospect, send them to the company landing page to learn more about the company you represent.

You now have a domain name, and hosting company to host your website. Now what? Well, it is time to make several decisions. First is what kind of site do I want to make, and second do I do it myself or do I hire out.

Let’s look at what kind of site to make. There are generally two styles you want to work with, a squeeze page site or a content page site.

A Squeeze Page site is mainly created for the main purpose of capturing leads. It is meant to squeeze a name and email address out of your prospect.

A Content Page site is more like your full blown website. This site is generally less productive of grabbing a lead, but very useful for many reasons.

In order to do Internet Based Network Marketing successfully, I suggest you personally create both of these different types of websites. The Priority is without a doubt, the squeeze page.

Constructing a web site can be a very tedious frustrating process. I personally took way too long to learn more about it to do it myself, but that is the way I am. This put the desired results on hold for quite some time for me. What is very important is that your websites look professional.

If you want to do it yourself, I suggest a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) program such and Dreamweaver, FrontPage, or a great little PC based program I found at www.webstudio.com. They have a free 30 day trial with great tutorials. More than enough time to figure out if that is what you want to do.

If you kind of want to do it yourself but are afraid of all the HTML and FTP processes, I suggest a great service called Marketing Makeover Generator. These guys offer a free trial, make it easy and can get you up and running in a few hours.

And lastly, you just want to tell someone what you want, and have them do it all for you, I suggest you find a VA (Virtual Assistant) at places like www.elance.com.

Well that is the end of Lesson Three. In review, by now you should have your domain name, a place to host your site and you are working on or having someone else working on either your squeeze page or your content page.

It is very important to realize that the quality down line will have joined you because you have developed a quality relationship with them. Not because your company has an awesome compensation plan or a really great product. These are available to them anytime, no matter who the join up with. You want them to join you because you have branded yourself as a leader.

To start this process, I suggest getting your own personalized domain name. Try your personal name first, if that is already taken, then try a domain such as www.whoisjohndoe.com. You can check with the companies listed below if your domain name is available. Warning, it make take a few tries to get a good domain name. I would recommend starting an account with a domain name registrar such as:

Learning How to Work Smarter

I consider this tip one of the most important. I know, I know, everybody talks about self help, organization, goals, planning and all that stuff that most of us never do. But, what I have learned since I started this endeavor is that if I do not set up a system, I get sidetracked so easily, that nothing that counts ever gets done! Haven’t you found yourself caught up in a great sales letter that you end up clicking up a storm heading somewhere else besides doing your daily goals.

This was a big problem for me, even after listening and reading some of the best organizational self help audios and books out there. I just read a letter from Mike Dillard the creator of Magnetic Sponsoring, and he discloses his secret to his success. It was so simple even I can implement it. Do you know what his secret tool is? It is something that comes on every computer, whether it is a Mac or a PC based system. Think about it, I will tell you later what his secret is and how to use it later.

Ok, here are some of my tricks.

1. Set goals. You can set big goals and little goals. I like to break things down into smaller baby step goals. They became more achievable and realistic. The bonus with doing this is you become less scared of the item to be completed because it is something that can be completed without too much effort. You also feel really good when you have completed one of these baby step goals. The really cool thing is that each time a baby step goal is completed; you are one step closer to your big goal. And over a period of time, you are where you want to be and you don’t even realize how you got there.

2. Get a dedicated work space. A space where when you get there, you are ready to work on those baby step goals, and finish them. A place away from distractions.

3. Speaking of distractions, can you think of one of the biggest distractions we have in today’s office environment? It is something each of is getting more comfortable using, something we base our networking on, something we claim we couldn’t live without if it was taken away from us. It is E-Mail. Yes e-mail. Think about it, we are working along creating a letter to send out to our down-line and ding “you have mail” breaks our concentration. So we leave the letter creation to see what new sex toy has been invented for us today. Sometime it can be hours until we get back to our letter. Maybe not even until the next day when our train of thought has been obliterated.

Here is a great idea I discovered, do the mail thing a certain amount of times a day only. What I mean is set yourself a schedule of say three times a day when you will fire up your e-mail program, read, respond and delete every email there at that time. I call this taking it to zero. So for me, I check my email in the morning, mid day and in the evening. This way the e-mail does not get out of hand, you are taking care of your responsibilities, and you are not being distracted while working.

Yeah but, my coworkers expect me to respond immediately. This is easy, set up an auto responder on your e-mail that shoots these co-workers an e-mail back to them telling them you check your e-mail at 8am, 1pm, and 4pm and to expect a response then. By doing this, I bet you will find at least an extra hour of productive time in your work day.

Oh yeah, what was Mike Dillard’s secret tool. It was WordPad (or TextEdit in Mac). This simple little program is what helped make him what he is today, a Magnetic Sponsoring genius. What he did, is before he went to bed, he would open his WordPad program to his “to-do.txt” file and enter 5 “to do’s” for the next day in the order of their importance. This way he is subconsciously thinking about tomorrows to do list while he sleeps. Then when he awakes in the morning, his day is planned out, he has thought about what to do and the tasks become much easier to complete.

One thing to remember, your to do list is not a goal list! For example a good to do list would be something like this:

1. Write a new auto responder letter

2. Update Adwords campaign

3. Run new headline split-test

4. Return prospect phone calls and e-mails

5. Read a book

A goals list will look like this:

1. Sponsor a new rep

2. Get a new customer

Your task list should be tasks to get you to your goals. If getting a new rep is your goal, your taks list may look something like this:

1. Send out a press release

2. Send a newsletter to list

3. Add 3 new Adgroups to my PPC campaign

4. Talk to at least 5 prospects

And so forth. Got it?
